Two Hour Special and Interview with Garland Jeffreys on WMBR's Lost & Found Program

Was aired on the program: Tuesday, April 16, 2019
12:00pm - 2:00pm

After becoming a tight friend with Lou Reed at Syracuse University in the mid '60s, Brooklyn-born Garland Jeffreys began his own musical career playing on Lou's ex-Velvet Underground co-founder John Cale's debut album, and then with his own band Grinder's Switch (not to be confused with '70s southern rock band Grinderswitch). After one album he struck it out solo with a self-titled album in 1973 and its stunning 1977 followup "Ghost Writer" that included the hit "Wild in the Streets." His sound is a refreshing mix of rock, reggae, blues and soul, and his voice is a supple instrument. Well over ten albums later (including the critically acclaimed "Escape Artist" in 1981), Garland is finishing up his career of touring with this final stretch. Garland Jeffreys is playing May 10 at Boston's City Winery.
